PNC Visits the Propel School in Homestead
On Friday, October 26, 2007, 12 volunteers from all of PNC’s downtown facilities visited the Propel Charter School in Homestead for a day of reading and fun activities! Since the school was celebrating Red Ribbon week, which is a “Just Say No to Drugs Week,” all of the kids were dressed up in red from head to toe showing their commitment to staying drug-free!
PNC volunteers traveled in groups, visiting grades one through four, reading books like Follow The Leader and doing activities such as creating a leadership book for the classroom and playing diversity bingo. Both the kids and the volunteers had a great time reading, talking and doing activities together!
In speaking about PNC’s commitment to volunteering, Vicky Yarnell said, “PNC’s mission is to focus on customers, employees, the community and shareholders equally. In fact, each employee is given 40 hours per year to volunteer. It was great to learn about the Propel Charters Schools and the fabulous work they are doing every day.” |
