In addition to our four main programs, Pittsburgh Cares coordinates a variety of special events that further engage and recognize volunteers including:

  • Holiday Season of Service (November and December)
  • MLK: Celebrate the Dream (January)
  • Hands on Pittsburgh (May)
  • Pittsburgh Cares Connects! (Bi-monthly)

Pittsburgh Cares’ special events offer volunteers, donors, agency partners and friends the opportunity to create change while networking with others throughout the region! Special events are a great way to get introduced to Pittsburgh Cares!

MLK : Celebrate the Dream

This week-long series of events aims to unite volunteers through service and promote regional respect for diversity. Events include a Diversity Crawl where volunteers tour regional amenities that celebrate diversity. A public art project is coordinated to visualize diversity, and a faith forum advances religious perspectives on diversity. A concert concludes the series of events and celebrates the talent of local Pittsburgh musicians.

Hands on
Pittsburgh

In May, the Pittsburgh Cares network celebrates its impact in the region through our largest annual fundraising event which gathers over 2,000 youth and adult volunteers and matches them to close to 100 volunteer projects that support more than 50 nonprofit organizations.

Holiday Season of Service

During the holiday season, Pittsburgh Cares makes it easy for individuals and families to give back during the months of November and December. Through special volunteer opportunities, a collection of holiday wish lists for regional nonprofit organizations, and a collection of holiday impact stories from our volunteers, we celebrate the spirit of giving together during the holidays.

Pittsburgh Cares Connects

Pittsburgh Cares Connects! events are informal, networking opportunities organized to connect Pittsburgh Cares existing and new volunteers, regional nonprofit organizations and donors. These events are held every other month at various locations throughout the region. Click here for the upcoming event calendar.
