In partnership with the United Way of Allegheny County, Pittsburgh Cares manages the region's Days of Caring initiative. In 2007, 3,887 volunteers from 67 companies completed 189 Days of Caring projects and logged 23,829 hours of service. These efforts supported the work of 132 regional nonprofit organizations.

In 2008, Pittsburgh Cares and the United Way of Allegheny County are striving to engage 100 companies in at least 200 Days of Caring projects. Companies of all sizes and industries are encouraged to coordinate their Days of Caring in the months of September and October 2008.
