SNAP Educators & Outreach
Skills-Based Opportunity for SNAP Outreach Member
Assist individuals in Allegheny County by educating them about food assistance programs in their area. Volunteers will present information about the SNAP program at local social service agencies in Allegheny County. Volunteers will be responsible for discussing the programs provided by the Food Bank and specifically about SNAP
Requires a commitment of 6 months or 24 shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend community events to discuss SNAP and distribute flyers, pamphlets, and resource information
- Respond promptly and accurately to questions that community members have about SNAP and other food assistance programs
- Represent mission and goals of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank
Required Skills:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work with people from diverse social and ethnic backgrounds
- High quality customer service skills
- Empathic listening skills
- Ability to travel throughout Allegheny County for events
- Attention to detail and follows through on tasks
- Flexible scheduling available (Weeknights and weekend shifts available)
Requirements
- FBI Clearances
- Driver’s License
- Two-Day Mandatory Training (max three hour commitment each day)
